Sony picks up 'Now Is Good'

LONDON -- Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has picked up North American rights to Ol Parker's "Now Is Good," with Warner taking U.K. rights. The film, which stars Dakota Fanning as a dying girl who falls in love, started shooting last month on location in Brighton and London. It's based on Jenny Downham's novel "Before I Die." Fanning plays a teen with a terminal illness who resolves to live her life on fast forward. Jeremy Irvine, Paddy Considine and Olivia Williams co-star. Pic is produced by Peter Czernin and Graham Broadbent at Blueprint Pictures, who recently made John Madden's "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel," also scripted by Parker, for Fox Searchlight. Now Is Good" was co-financed by BBC Films, the UKFC, Rising Star Films and Lipsync. Exec producers are Christine Langan, Peter Hampden and Adam Kulick.
